Denise Russell Fleming is the vice president of Information Technology (IT) Business Partners for Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS). In this role she is responsible for delivering innovative digital solutions to align with BDS business strategy. Her team is responsible for supporting the growth of Boeing’s business by partnering with the BDS team on IT-related content and technology enablement for BDS programs. Her team also focuses on delivering efficiencies for BDS programs leveraging data analytics and other technology enablers. Fleming serves as a member of the leadership teams of the CIO of The Boeing Company and also the President and CEO of BDS.

Before joining Boeing, Fleming was the Vice President of Application Solutions at BAE Systems, Inc. In this role she had responsibility for full lifecycle management of all IT applications supporting 30,000 employees. During the balance of her six year tenure at BAE Systems, Fleming served as the Vice President of Business Technology & Transformation where she was accountable for developing an enterprise technology roadmap, introducing enterprise-wide technology, governance, change management and centralization of IT resources to deliver efficiency and cost savings.

Previously, Fleming held several executive positions during her thirteen year career at Sprint Nextel including network operations, marketing strategy, customer care, sales engineering, program management, strategic alliances, Chief of Staff to the Chairman & CEO and VP/GM roles managing the profitability of the $6 billion wireline business and service and repair for retail stores nationwide. She spent six years of her tenure as an executive for Sprint’s federal government business.

Fleming earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from University of Virginia and an MBA from Duke University. She also completed an Advanced General Managers Program at the Insead Business School in Fontainebleau, France.

She currently serves as the chair of the advisory board for Women in Engineering at the University of Maryland, is an active member of the Executive Leadership Council, is on the national board for TechBridge Girls and serves as an Executive Champion for Boeing Women In Leadership in the Potomac Region. She was awarded the 2012 Women of Color Technology Award for Career Achievement in Industry and is a 2014 inductee into the Black Engineer of the Year Awards Hall of Fame.
