Carole Murray is vice president of Total Quality for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, chair of the Boeing Quality Operations Council and a member of the company’s Executive Council. She leads the focus on driving quality excellence and adopting standardized best practices across the global organization. Within Commercial Airplanes, she drives efforts to ensure first-pass quality throughout the value stream. Murray is responsible for supporting the relationship between Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration, and for ensuring continuous improvements in the company’s Quality Management System and driving its integration with the Boeing Safety Management System.
Murray previously was senior director of Quality for the 787 Program. She partnered across the enterprise to enhance customer relationships and execute program strategies, including implementing principles of the One Boeing Production System to foster first-pass quality, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Before that role, Murray was the 787 Production Engineering chief engineer. She was responsible for leading the development and implementation of the 787 build plan across Everett, Washington, and North Charleston, South Carolina final assembly production lines. She led the oversight of tooling, liaison, manufacturing engineers, programmers, customer engineers and weights analysts for the Composite Fabrication Center, Mid/Aft body Assembly and Integration, Final Assembly and Delivery. In addition, Murray provided production engineering leadership and helped lead the enterprise Fall Hazard Elimination Team.
Murray first joined Boeing in 2004 as an intern in Flight Controls for commercial aircraft, then returned for a second internship with the C-17 Globemaster in Charleston.
Murray serves on the board of One80 Place homeless shelter in Charleston. She holds a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from North Carolina State University and a Master of Science in organizational management from Charleston Southern University.
