Boeing is donating $10.6 million to a group of 20 nonprofits working to address racial equity and social justice in the United States. The funding package is part of a previously announced multi-year commitment that includes a mix of local and national-level grants aimed at increasing the number of minority and underserved students pursuing science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, education and diversifying the aerospace talent pipeline. Grant money also will fund programs that work to address criminal justice reform and health care gaps in underserved and minority communities.

In Washington, Boeing is making a $2.5 million investment that will support healthcare access for minority and underserved children through the expansion of the Seattle Children’s Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC) in Seattle. The grant will assist Seattle Children’s efforts to increase health access for diverse households in Central and South Seattle by renovating the existing clinic, building the new clinic and increasing capacity.

“We are extremely grateful that Boeing’s contribution will help us address the immense challenges our families face – challenges like food insecurity, trauma, school readiness and gentrification,” said Dr. Benjamin Danielson, senior medical director of OBCC. “It’s vital now more than ever that we meet and support our families in ways that make a lasting and impactful difference. With this gift, we’ll be able to help more families who need us and implement programs to break generational cycles of illness.”

Over the past five years, Boeing has invested more than $120 million to support underserved communities – including racial equity and social justice programs in those communities – across the United States.
